The School of Art + Design seeks a Fabrication Technology Specialist, who is responsible for managing the operation of laboratories and other resources and coordinating projects incorporating metal, ceramics, and printmaking technology at the School of Art + Design.

This person will also provide specialized expertise using technological advances in the teaching, creation, and presentation of art and design by the students, faculty, and staff of the School of Art + Design.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a visual arts-related field. Degrees from other fields will be considered if accompanied by significant professional experience in one of the relevant visual arts fields.

Required Experience: Two or more years of experience with the use of fabrication, metals, woodworking, or printmaking technology in a creative or educational environment.

Required Knowledge: An understanding of the academic research needs of students working with fabrication, metals, ceramics, and/or printmaking equipment. Familiarity with the use of traditional and/or computer-based processes as artistic conduits, research, teaching, and presentation tools. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Decision making qualities as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

This is a full-time (100%), benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date, preferably in early August.
