Teaching Assistant Professor
Ian Meares (b. 1977) works across the expanded fields of ceramics, sculpture, and curatorial practices. He holds two graduate degrees; he is a 2017 graduate of the University of California Irvine with an MFA in Critical and Curatorial Studies with an Emphasis in Critical Theory and a 2009 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with an MFA in Studio Practice with Concentrations in Ceramics and Sculpture.
His research interests as an artist, a curator, and a reader reside in the variety of ways our plastic conceptions temper and permeate our politics, economics, and aesthetics—how these dynamics shape the myriad ways that materiality and modes of artistic expression in turn inform our agencies and reflect our discourse. He exhibits and works internationally. Learn more about his work at ianmeares.com.
