The School of Art & Design is seeking applications for the following paid student hourly positions:
Expectation of time commitment is 5-10 hours per week, depending on scheduled events and school needs. Most weeks the hours average around 5 per week. The hourly rate is $15.
Duties may include some or all of the following, with the understanding that tasks will vary according to applicant skills and areas of interest.
- Co-leading two-three student recruitment tours of the A&D buildings and facilities per semester. There are 10 dates scheduled for Fall 2026. Most are scheduled on Friday’s at 2:30, three are scheduled on Monday’s at 2:30. These tours are critical to our recruitment efforts, and your reliability is crucial.
- Attending regular short weekly check-in meetings (may be remote).
- Attending admitted student day in the Link Gallery (spring)
- Attending a regional high school peer portfolio review day in the Link Gallery (fall)
- Answer potential student questions via the web (ongoing)
- Develop and hold Office Hours in the Link for peer hangouts, advice, and student to student mentoring. Frequency TBD by group.
- Creating informal, “day in the life” iPhone videos that highlight your story and daily school routine. Assist in creating videos featuring other students and faculty that highlight programs and majors in A&D for a YouTube channel.
- Meeting monthly with Executive Associate Director to initiate and plan student community building events
- Assisting with current school events: welcome back picnic; Fall Festival and open house; Spring Thing and admitted student open house; School wide Takeover; BFA exhibition events; Link and Bloc gallery receptions; MFA events; all visitors including distinguished alum.
- Provide leadership at the program level
- Work with school administrators, program chairs, and faculty to organize at least once per semester an opportunity for students to collectively discuss program issues, community building, etc.
- Support efforts to engage students and create shared opportunities
- Provide leadership at the school level
- Work with school admin and staff to organize once per semester school wide events, gatherings, or conversations that benefit all programs in the school. (alumni visits, workshops, open houses, etc.)
- Gather imagery for social media. Accounts will be managed by student hourly workers at college (also members of the Ambassadors team).
- Provide general advice and oversight to school administrators and program chairs on matters relating to student life; community; wellness; events; communications; social media outreach; recruitment strategies
- Identify opportunities for new student RSO’s to develop
- Other duties as assigned (postering, etc.)
