(dis)Ability Design Studio launched at the Beckman Institute

Deana McDonagh, Graphic Design Program Chair, Industrial Design Professor, and Beckman Institute researcher, co-directs the (dis)Ability Design Studio with Adam Bleakney, research affiliate in Beckman and DRES, head coach of the UIUC men and women’s wheelchair track and road-racing team, and coach for the U.S. Paralympic Team.

This is the first design studio at the Beckman Institute and showcases the value of human centered design and how instrumental it has been in collaborating with DRES.

The (Dis)Ability Design Studio is located on the first floor of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at 405 N. Mathews Ave. The building’s operating hours are 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
