Research
I am interested in surface, facsimile, and material exploration in relation to food consumption and other domestic themes. Informed by a ceramic background, I make assemblages and sculptures materials such as clay, wood, wire, wax, and scraps. I particularly enjoy creating work with references to meat products and using hyper-processed food materials, such as Red 40 and titanium dioxide, for surface treatments. Making sculptures about food with toxic materials, I want that remind the viewer (and myself) that consumption shouldn’t be a blind, habitual process: we are what we eat.
