Research
I make art by tapping into personal experience to find glimmers of connection with those encountering my work through our shared experience of being alive. As an intermedial artist, I am compelled to work through as many languages as possible, finding myself in an obsessive search for that which conveys the affective and somatic manifestations of trauma and memory. Following an intuitive movement, jumping between mediums, with a “performatic” gesture, I create groups of objects that communicate with each other. My research orbits around the intersectionality of memory and identity, questioning what is understood as origin and its effects on the sense of self. The body is a carrier of inherited memory and I see memory as a malleable reconstruction that constantly requests my attention, an area to which I return, a space where I repeat and re-member.
