Admission

Application Material (see graduate college website for details):

  1. Transcripts and Diplomas (GRE test scores are NOT required)
  2. Three Letters of Recommendation
  3. Resume
  4. Academic Statement (not to exceed 1000 words)
  5. Personal Statements (short written responses to four essay questions)
  6. Portfolio (make a separate account through SlideRoom. )
    Applicants must upload a portfolio of between 12 and 20 works to SlideRoom, (this can include details and/or multiple views). Images should be in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format and cannot exceed 5MB per file. Videos can come in multiple formats (.m4v, .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .mpeg, or .mpg) and cannot exceed 60MB per file. It is also possible to link to external YouTube or Vimeo video files. Website links can be included in the Personal Statement. In SlideRoom, use “Label Media” to provide details such as title, date, media, contextual information, etc. SlideRoom provides a confirmation screen at the successful completion of the portfolio submission process.

Additional material for International and non-native English-speaking applicants:

  1. English Proficiency Test. International and non-native English-speaking applicants may take the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Proficiency Tests.
    • For limited status admission to the School of Art and Design, students must have at least one of the following scores: TOEFL: 96; IELTS: 7.0; Duolingo: 120. *Note: these scores are HIGHER than the general university requirement.
    • For full status admission to the School of Art and Design, students must have at least one of the following scores: TOEFL: 103; IELTS: 7.5; Duolingo: 135
    • Students admitted on limited status will be required to take an English Placement Test (EPT)shortly after arrival on campus. Depending on the results of this test, Limited Status students may be asked to take additional English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
    • Test scores must be dated after August 25, 2024, and received by the application deadline of January 15, 2026.

 

 

Financial Aid and Funding

Funding packages are available for students in most programs. In order for international and non-native English-speakers to be considered for teaching assistant positions, applicants must submit SPEAK test scores of at least 8.0 (IELTS) or 24 (TOEFL), with the test dated after August 25, 2024, at the application deadline. Duolingo test scores are not accepted for Teaching Assistant availability. Check here if you are from a foreign country that exempts you from submitting these scores.
