In this free workshop students will engage in an artist and performative practice through popular culture. Most children have a favorite character or have envisioned themselves in a world of their own creation. Over the course of this nine-day workshop, kids will have fun creating their own superhero or fantasy costumes from t-shirts and superhero masks. On the last day we’ll have a Zoom party as our characters!
The workshop includes a free supply bag with a superhero mask, a set of fabric markers, and a white t-shirt. Other supplies for additional decoration of mask and t-shirt may be necessary and must be provided by the parent/guardian.
Registration for this workshop is open to rising students in grades 3–5 from Champaign and Vermilion Counties. The student must attend the first day of class or the registration will not be honored.
Free registration and supplies are courtesy of the generous support of the Curtis C. Nash Children’s Creativity Fund, the School of Art + Design, the Nash Everyday Arts Lab Fund, and the Art Education program at the University of Illinois.
Location
This course is offered as a no-contact option for students and will be held online. A link will be provided via email after registration.
