By the time I was eight I had survived cancer three times with only a 2% survival rate. But what is the cost of surviving? My paintings bleed with heartbreak as I use my body and life to illustrate the lasting effects of cancer. Art serves as a cathartic process as I release my anguish and confront my PTSD. I aim to communicate a message of resilience. Despite everything I am going through, or maybe because of everything, I have immense gratitude, empathy, and hope. And if there is one thing I need to survive, it is hope.We are going to experience pain, loss, and tragedy. But how do we survive it? How do we continue living through it? What brings us light in our darkest moments? What does it mean to be more than just a survivor?
