About Emmy Lingscheit
Bio
Emmy Lingscheit’s research explores our enmeshments with the non-human world, from the cellular level to global economic scale, and their implications for the ecological and social challenges we collectively face. Her prints, drawings, zines, and sculptural works examine the teeming strangeness, cooperation, and competition of the biological world, and their parallels in human society. Through irony and visual pleasure these works aim to disrupt systems and imagine ways to salvage hope, shelter, and community in this time of rapid environmental change and geopolitical upheaval.
Lingscheit has held artist residencies at the Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Zygote Press, Ucross, and the Kohler Arts/Industry Program. Her work has been exhibited widely, including recently at Davidson Galleries, The Center for Contemporary Art and Culture, and The International Print Center New York. Recent solo shows include exhibitions at Spudnik Press, The Lawrence Arts Center, The Indianapolis Art Center, and The John Michael Kohler Arts Center. She holds a BFA in painting from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and an MFA in printmaking from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Emmy is an Associate Professor in the School of Art + Design, and the coordinator of the Studio Art concentration in Printmaking.
